Cops stake out Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to raise funds, awareness for Special Olympics Illinois

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Hundreds of law enforcement officers throughout Illinois are staking out on Dunkin' Donuts rooftops to benefit the Special Olympics Illinois on Friday.

Police officers are scheduled to cover more than 170 Dunkin' Donuts rooftops. The goal is to raise awareness and donations for the Law Enforcement Torch Run that benefits Special Olympics Illinois. This is the 13th year that officers throughout Illinois are collaborating for the cause.

More than $1.6-million has been raised from this event over the last 11 years.

Some of the locations for the event, dubbed "Cops on Top," include the following:

5 am, Deerfield

*Attorney General Lisa Madigan, former Bulls player and radio commentator Bill Wennington and Benny the Bull will participates at 8am.

5 am - 2 pm, Homer Glen
