Decatur Twp. firefighters help Indiana family who lost everything in fire

DECATUR TOWNSHIP, Ind. (WLS) -- After a fire destroyed everything they own, a family in Indiana is getting to celebrate Christmas thanks to some generous firefighters.

Firefighters in Decatur Township say they were heartbroken to see what happened to Karen Novak and her three children.

Aside from possessions, the family also lost their four pets. So the entire fire department stepped up and donated a truck full of kitchen items, clothing, and gifts for the kids.

The family has found a new home, and their church and school also pitched in to help furnish the place.
