CHICAGO (WLS) -- In the 2013 film, Lone Survivor, the hard work and determination of the Navy SEALs is the focus.

The life of Erik Kristensen, a man killed on a SEAL mission that went wrong in Afghanistan in 2005, is one of the stories portrayed in the film.

Although 19 Americans died, one SEAL, Petty Officer Marcus Luttrell, lived to tell the story.

The Navy SEAL Foundation is credited for helping countless families cope with tragedies like this one.

Erik Kristensen's parents, Sam and Ed Kristensen, came to ABC7 to talk about the foundation, navysealfoundation.org.
