Gov. Quinn visits sailors on Christmas

BERWYN, Ill. (WLS) -- Gov. Pat Quinn visited more than 100 sailors who could not go home for Christmas this year for the annual "Christmas Day with Sailors" event in Berwyn.

The event was supported by local charities and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and featured food, music and a visit from Santa. Quinn was joined by Berwyn Mayor Robert Lovero.

"Christmas is a time of joy, charity and compassion," Quinn said. "While we celebrate the season, we should reflect on and cherish the many gifts that we have been blessed with, including the brave men and women who sacrifice so much for our nation."
