Hammond, Ind. parade benefits local veterans groups

HAMMOND, Ind. (WLS) -- The people of Hammond, Ind. paid tribute to the men and women who have served in the military Saturday when the city held its "Veterans Appreciation Day Parade."

It was not only a chance to say thanks, but to help. Parade-goers were asked to bring non-perishable food and toiletries.

The items will be given to local veterans groups.
