Naperville cancer walk helps fund research

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Many people are heading to southwest suburban Naperville next Sunday to help raise awareness and money to help fight pancreatic cancer.

Ann and John Zediker and other volunteers joined ABC7 News This Morning to explain how people can make a positive impact on their community by participating in the walk.

The Lustgarten Foundation's Naperville Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 24 at the Naperville Pavilion. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Participants can choose to do a 1.5-mile walk or a 5K walk.

Each year, the foundation holds more than 30 walks across the country. Last year, those walks helped raise $4 million. The foundation said 100 percent of the money raised at the walks goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.
