Honoring veterans with a day of fishing
For our brave service men and women returning from overseas, sometimes life back home can come with unique challenges.

ANTIOCH, Ill. (WLS) -- For our brave service men and women returning from overseas, sometimes life back home can come with unique challenges. A shockingly high number of service members are returning with injuries and even the soldiers without physical wounds are having a hard time adjusting back into the "real world". Now the non-profit Take a Vet Fishing is giving back for their sacrifices. Created in 2011, Take a Vet Fishing provides emotional support and rehabilitation to those who serve. Their mission: support veterans and their families with through PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) with outings and trips.

Veterans and volunteers are going out for a day on the water in Fox Lake at Antioch on Sunday May 15, 2016. Take a Vet Fishing days are always free for everyone. President and Co-Founder of Take a Vet Fishing, Jay Garstecki, joined ABC 7 live in Antioch from the big event.
