NORTHBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- The Hunger Resource Network is hitting a major milestone in its effort to take a bite out of hunger.
During its 2014 Community Outreach Day at Sunset Foods in north suburban Northbrook, the all-volunteer non-profit organization is handing out 100,000 pounds of free frozen chicken to more than 70 area food pantries, homeless shelters and soup kitchens. That means the Hunger Resource Network is giving out its millionth pound of food since it started.
Dan Jariabka, president and founder of the Hunger Resource Network, and Dave Crawford, director of A Just Harvest Soup Kitchen, joined us live from Northbrook during our ABC 7 Eyewitness News Saturday Morning to tell us how all this food will help those in need.
