Illinois State Police give awards for heroism and professionalism

CHATHAM, Ill. (WLS) -- Some of the men and women who risk their lives to keep the people of Illinois safe were honored today.

The Illinois State Police recognized roughly 50 men and women for their heroism and professionalism. The awards included Officer of the Year, lifesaving medals and Purple Heart awards in honor of those who were injured or killed in the line of duty.
