Irish officials visit for Chicago's St. Patrick's Day
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A delegation from Ireland is coming to Chicago for St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
Cook County partners with the Ireland Partnership Program and the Chicago Sister Cities Galway Committee to welcome delegates from Cork County, Ireland.
Since 1999, Cork County Council has had an established partnership with Cook County Government as part of its International Trade Partnership Program. Ongoing bi-lateral trade, educational and governmental exchanges between the counties of Cork and Cook have focused on government services, tourism, IT, Biotech, Life Sciences/Pharma, Family Businesses, Artisans and Entrepreneurship. Cork County also supports Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.
County Cork is the gateway to Ireland's "Wild Atlantic Way Tourist Trail" and the recently launched "Ireland's Ancient East." The Mayor of County Cork, Cllr. John Paul O'Shea, and the Senior Executive Officer of the Cork County Council, Sean O'Callaghan, visited ABC 7 Eyewitness News to talk about their journey to Chicago.
