CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5k Walk is coming up on Oct. 24, 2015. But before the big day, the American Cancer Society is hosting a kickoff event on Saturday, Aug. 29 to jump-start the fundraising campaign. The kickoff event is scheduled to begin at noon at the Parkway Ballroom in Chicago.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks are the largest networks of breast cancer events in the country. Nearly 300 communities are taking part. The non-competitive events raise money and awareness, and help the American Cancer Society in their fight against breast cancer.
