On the Table survey results refined during Chicago Ideas Week
Results from On the Table will be refined during Chicago Ideas Week for what Chicagoans want to see more of in their city.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- In May 2014, a community event asked people what they wanted to see done in the Chicago area. The On the Table initiative, organized by the Chicago Community Trust, united more than 11,500 participants at 1,100 mealtime conversations. ABC7 Eyewitness News hosted one of the dinners at our station with community leaders and students. The Chicago Community Trust connects donors with the needs of the community.

So just what did everyone discuss? The survey results just came out, and they showed four top themes: education, community engagement, equity and social inclusion, and collaboration. From those, the Trust has announced the new project called "collaboratories," which will help move six promising ideas into action. The ideas will be refined during lab sessions at Chicago Ideas Week, which runs Oct. 13-19 at locations throughout the city. ABC7 is the media sponsor for Chicago Ideas Week, and our Hungry Hound, Steve Dolinsky, is part of the program.

Terry Mazany, president and CEO of the Chicago Community Trust, will take the stage on Oct. 15 for a talk titled, "Instigators: Voices for Change." Mazany came into our ABC7 Eyewitness News studio to tell us about all these developments and plans.
