SKOKIE, Ill. (WLS) -- Active duty service members, wounded veterans, and civilians are joining together for a Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride in the north suburbs on June 12, 2016. The Honor Ride begins at Evanston Subaru in Skokie. The non-competitive cycling event is designed to get veterans back on the road with their brothers in arms. Injured veterans ride for free. The Honor Ride raises funded in support of local Project HERO programs. Ride 2 Recovery is a non-profit providing free recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration service for injured veterans. ABC 7 joined Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride Manager, Emily Granacher, live from the event.
A second Ride 2 Recovery Honor Ride is coming up on August 14, 2016 in Barrington, Ill. It begins at Citizens Park at 7:00am. There's also a 10K Run at 9:15am. Registration for all cycling routes is $75. The 1-mile fun run is $25, while the 5K and 10K are each $55.
