Santa Hustle 5K comes to Soldier Field

CHICAGO (WLS) -- The holiday spirit of giving is very active in Chicago at the sixth annual Santa Hustle 5K, which starts and ends at Chicago's iconic Soldier Field. Runners dress up as Santa, complete with beard and suit, and they enjoy oodles of holiday cheer with Christmas music playing along the course. When the race is done, participants can hop on the free Santa Hustle Trolley and head to the After Party at Navy Pier.

The whole event is of course great fun, but it also supports many great causes. Proceeds from The Santa Hustle benefit the American Cancer Society and its Team DetermiNation. The race also provides an official drop-off spot for the Toys for Tots program. The Santa Hustle Race Series is produced by Adrenaline Sports Management (ASM) and consists of eight races in Chicago, Milwaukee, Sevierville, Tenn., Sandusky, Ohio, Galveston, Texas, Buena Park, Calif., and South Portland, Maine.

Chicago's course runs along the lakefront paths and streets. Aaron Del Mar, founder of Adrenaline Sports Management, and Christopher Bowles, director of Team DetermiNation of the American Cancer Society, joined us live during our ABC 7 Eyewitness News Saturday Morning to explain how the race supports those in need.
