Scoops of Hope for the Give Kids the World Village
Give Kids the World Village is offering a "Scoops of Hope" fundraiser.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- National Ice Cream Day in the U.S. is July 17, 2016. To celebrate, the Give Kids the World Village is offering a "Scoops of Hope" fundraiserto provide happiness that inspires hope to Make-A-Wish foundation families.

Since 1992, more than 1,400 Make-A-Wish families from Chicago have visited the Give Kids the World Village resort in Florida. The 79-acre, nonprofit resort creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families; with donated attraction tickets, meals and more for a weeklong, cost-free, dream vacation.

With the help of many generous individuals and corporations, including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, Hasbro, Perkins, Boston Market and many more, Give Kids The World is able to serve more than 7,700 families each year. Children love to visit, and are allowed to eat ice cream anytime they like at the village's Ice Cream Palace.

To savor National Ice Cream Day, Give Kids the World Village President & CEO, Pamela Landwirth, and alumni family Julie and Charlie Coffey joined ABC 7 Eyewitness News to make their own sundaes.
