Statue honors fallen officers who served Chicago's West Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A new statue honoring fallen officers who served Chicago's Austin neighborhood was unveiled Friday.

The Chicago Police Department's 15th District unveiled its K-9 for Cops statue, which features the portraits of several officers who lost their lives while working on the city's West Side.

Family members of some of the fallen officers took part in Friday's event.

The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation launched the Chicago K-9 for Cops Public Art Campaign to memorialize officers and the dogs who helped protect them.
