OAK LAWN, Ill. (WLS) -- It was a heartwarming reunion in Oak Lawn Tuesday as a woman thanked her co-workers who also happen to be the people who saved her life a decade ago.

Michelle Bruno was just 16-years old when she was rushed to Christ Medical Center with a deadly bacterial infection.

Doctor Ted Toerne and nurse Margie Sheerin actually helped bring her back to life. It was their work that inspired Bruno to become a nurse.

Now, she works in the same hospital as the doctor and nurse, but they hadn't seen each other until Tuesday.

"After everything that has happened, I knew I wanted to work with vulnerable patients and advocate for their every need just like all the nurses and doctors have done for me," Bruno said.

Bruno works in the adult surgical heart unit just a few floors away from where the team that saved her life still works.
