COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. (WLS) -- Three suspects have been apprehended after a police chase in west suburban Countryside Thursday afternoon.

Police in Countryside said that a joint task force involving Chicago police and the U.S. Marshals were conducting surveillance on a suspect in Lyons wanted for probation violations and an investigative alert issued by Chicago police.

Authorities identified the suspect in a vehicle with possibly three others and attempted to stop the vehicle, police said. A pursuit ensued through Lyons and La Grange and ended in a crash at Plainfield Road and Brainard Avenue.

Three people, including the wanted suspect, fled on foot and were taken into custody. Witnesses told police there may have been a fourth person.

After a search by multiple agencies, a fourth person was not found, police said.

Schools in La Grange and Western Springs were placed on soft lockdown as a precaution. Shortly after 3 p.m., the soft lockdown was lifted at the schools.
