ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- A 13-year-old boy from west suburban Elmwood Park received a special award this month at an annual national youth bowling tournament and is making Chicago proud.

Jacob Travis Perry was one of 3,500 athletes from across the country to qualify for the 2017 Junior Gold Championship, which was held in July in Cleveland, Ohio. But he was recognized for more than just his stellar bowling skills at this year's opening ceremony.

Organizers held the Bowlers Choice Awards on July 16, featuring five awards that gave participants a chance to show their personality.

Jacob, a straight-A student who was inducted into the 2017 National Honor Society, was a finalist in the "Epic Swag" category and ended up earning the most votes for his "unique" and "funkadelic" bowling outfits.

He was presented with the award at the tournament's opening ceremony.

Some of the themes of his outfits include, "emojicon," aliens, the Golden State Warriors (in Cleveland), "Proud to live in the USA," Skittles, "Show me the money" and "Riddle me this?"

Congratulations, Jacob! Your style is fearless and fun and you've made Chicago proud!
