Klay Thompson, Steph Curry push Warriors past pesky Bulls

CHICAGO -- The United Center was raucous, filled with fans roaring as the hometown team fattened its lead over the defending champions, pounding them in the paint and on the break.

All the Chicago Bulls' momentum resulted in a slim halftime lead, but that edge disappeared in a near heartbeat when the Splash Brothers started raining 3-pointers.

Soon after, the NBA-best Golden State Warriors' lead ballooned to blowout proportions, and they held on for a 119-112 win, their 14th straight on the road.

Klay Thompson scored a season-high 38 points on 12-of-22 shooting, including 7-of-13 from 3-point range. And Stephen Curry added 30 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including 6-of-11 from deep. The rest of the Warriors were 0-for-9 from long range.

The two sharpshooters combined to score 22 points -- and nail six 3-pointers -- in the third quarter alone, when the Warriors outscored the Bulls 32-12 to take a commanding 95-78 lead entering the fourth.

During that pivotal third quarter, the Bulls shot just 6-of-25 and went scoreless for 6:52.

Kevin Durant added 19 points, 7 assists and 8 rebounds for the Warriors.

In the first half, the Bulls jumped out to a double-digit lead behind strong play from their bench. They also scored a season-high 40 points in the first quarter.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Chicago, which was led by Nikola Mirotic (24 points). The Bulls held a 56-28 edge in points in the paint and a 26-7 advantage in fast-break points, but the elite shooting of Thompson and Curry from long range proved too much.

The 37-9 Warriors, who were without Draymond Green (right shoulder soreness), have won four straight and are 21-3 on the road. They'll now head to Houston, where they'll close out a five-game road trip against the Rockets on Saturday.
