NEW YORK (WLS) -- The 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals will be held at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C., officials said.

The game, which is part of an annual outdoor New Year's Day tradition, will be held at noon on Jan. 1, 2015, officials said, and will be the first time the Capitals have hosted the game. Previously, the Winter Classic has been held at such ballparks as Wrigley Field, Fenway Park in Boston and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

"The Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic has made New Year's Day a highlight of the season for NHL fans everywhere," said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in a statement. "Nationals Park provides an ideal setting for all the excitement, entertainment and fun as the Blackhawks and Capitals bring our outdoor tradition to historic Washington, D.C."
