Chicago World Cup fans gather to cheer on teams
Thousands of World Cup fans in Chicago are gathering to cheer on their favorite teams.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago fans are invited to gather and cheer on the home team on a big screen in Grant Park at viewing parties hosted by U.S. soccer. The organization will be hosting three viewing party events to coincide with the United States' group matches that are all free and open to the public. The first viewing party is at 5 p.m. Monday, June 16, at Arvey Field near the Columbus Drive and Roosevelt Road intersection, featuring the U.S.'s opener against Ghana.

The second viewing party will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, for the U.S. v. Portugal, also at Arvey field. The final party will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, at the Petrillo Music Shell near Columbus Drive and Jackson Street in Grant Park, for the U.S.'s final group match against Germany.

Each event will feature the ESPN live feed displayed on massive high-definition screens, and will include live look-ins on the fans gathered there. The viewing parties will also features U.S. Soccer Fan Fest areas which will host a variety of activities. For more information, visit choosechicago.com.
