CHICAGO (WLS) -- Owners of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus can begin using Apple's new Apple Pay feature on Monday.

More than 220,000 stores are participating in the new program, including McDonald's, Macy's and Whole Foods.

To use the payment system, hold down the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and point the phone at the Apple Pay device at a retail store register. A new encryption system creates a one-time credit card number for each transaction.

But not all retailers have the machines needed to read the phones yet. Keep your phone and wallet handy for now.
