CHICAGO (WLS) -- Governor Pat Quinn and Uber executives announced Monday that Uber's Chicago regional headquarters will expand, resulting in 420 new jobs by the end of 2016.

Uber's Chicago office serves as the headquarters for the company's Central Region, encompassing the Midwest, Texas and Canada. Having outgrown its current space, the regional headquarters will move to 111 N. Canal.

The jobs created will be the same kinds of full-time positions currently housed in Uber's headquarters, including marketing managers, driver and rider support teams and operations experts. Drivers who use the Uber platform are independent contractors.
