Thieves targeting minivans on NW Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have issued a warning about a series of minivan thefts in the city.

Seven minivans have been stolen from various locations on the city's Northwest Side since mid-August.

In each case, they stole Dodge Caravan minivans. They've targeted older caravans from the 1998 through 2005 model years.

The thefts occurred in the:

  • 3200-block of North Lavergne Avenue at 11 p.m. Aug. 18;
  • 5200-block of West Patterson Avenue between 5 p.m. Aug. 20 and 2 a.m. Aug. 22;
  • 5100-block of West Eddy Street between 9 p.m. Aug. 21 and 8 a.m. Aug. 22;
  • 5900-block of West Eddy Street between 6:15 p.m. Aug. 31 and 9:45 a.m. Sept. 1;
  • 4800-block of North Milwaukee Avenue between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sept. 6;
  • 5400- block of West Higgins Avenue between 2:20 a.m. Sept. 6 and 12:25 a.m. Sept. 7; and
  • 3700-block of North Laramie Avenue at 10:20 a.m. Sept. 11
