CARY, Ill. (WLS) -- After extensive delays, trains on Metra's Union Pacific Northwest line are running again after an inbound train was stopped just north of Cary Friday morning.

Inbound Train No. 608 struck and killed a pedestrian around 5:40 a.m. near 3 Oaks Road and the Cary Depot, officials said.

Although trains are moving again, the line experienced "extensive delays" due to the incident, some of which topped two hours. Riders were encouraged to board inbound trains from the Barrington stop.
