Tollway officials ask IDOT for speed limit increase on 3 tollways

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- Illinois Tollway officials are asking the Illinois Department of Transportation to increase the speed limit on three tollways.

After conducting studies, tollway officials say it would be safe to increase the speed from 55 miles per hour to 60 miles per hour along portions of the Tri-State, the Reagan Memorial and the Veterans Memorial tollways.

It will be up to the Illinois Department of Transportation to approve the speed increase.
