Garbage truck, semi involved in crash on SB I-55 near I-355 in Bolingbrook

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- A crash involving a semi and a garbage truck snared traffic Friday morning on southbound Interstate 55 near Interstate 355 in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.

About 7 a.m., a garbage truck and a semitruck were involved in a collision in the southbound lanes of I-55 just north of Route 53, Illinois State Police said.

As of 10 a.m., state police said traffic is getting through in the left lane and the others are expected to reopen shortly. One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Just hours earlier, a woman was killed and an Illinois State trooper was injured in a crash on I-55 in southwest suburban Romeoville Friday morning.
