CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Divvy bike sharing program just got a little cheaper for college students.

Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel announced a new Divvy membership program Monday which makes annual memberships available to students at participating college in Chicago for $55 instead of $75, the standard annual fee.

The program is being launched with six institutions: City Colleges of Chicago, Columbia College, Northwestern University, DePaul University, Rush University Medical Center and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Students can sign up for the program, using their school email address, at DivvyBikes.com/student.
