Increased security for holiday air travelers
A record number of travelers are expected this weekend.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A record number of travelers are expected for the long holiday weekend, and it comes as airports are increasing security.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Americans should expect to see more security in public places during their holiday.

AAA predicts 43 million Americans will travel this weekend, with almost 11 million traveling by air. It's the highest Fourth of July travel volume on record and in the wake of the attack in Turkey, security will be everywhere.

"We're concerned and focused generally on public events and public places across the nation," Secretary Johnson said.

The world's largest airport, Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, is considering extending its security perimeter outside the front door.

Officials also advise travelers to be vigilant and pay attention to their surroundings.
