Evanston parolee arrested after warrant reveals drugs, firearm ammunition

EVANSTON, Ill. -- A man on parole in the north suburbs was arrested after Evanston Police executing a search warrant found drugs and ammunition at his home, officials said.

Evanston Police special operations group personnel executed a search warrant for narcotics in the 1500-block of Dodge Avenue at around 6 a.m. Friday morning. William L. Reed, 46, was found with small amounts of heroin and cannabis, firearm ammunition and about $1,300 in cash believed to be from drug sales, police said.

Reed, who was on parole with the Illinois Department of Corrections, is charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of cannabis.
