PONTIAC, Ill. -- New video from the Pontiac Police Department shows the danger on the ground as a tornado pushed through Wednesday.

The video shows what happened when the storm causes a transformer to blow.

A blinding flash of light fills the sky with sparks whipped around by the powerful winds. The video shows a driver in the distance immediately hit the brakes.

The EF 2 tornado damaged several homes and businesses in the town about 100 miles southwest of Chicago, but no one was hurt.

On Friday, Governor Bruce Rauner toured the damage caused by the tornado. He thanked first responders as he surveyed the damage promising that aid to damaged areas would not be affected by the state's budget crisis.
