Travelers stuck at Chicago airports another night
Many air travelers trying to get to the East Coast will spend another night in Chicago.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Some Chicago flights in and out of New York and Philadelphia will resume on a limited basis Tuesday evening, but travelers trying to get to Boston and other New England airports are out of luck for another night.

Nearly every flight into or out of the Northeast was canceled on Tuesday due to the blizzard, impacting airports across the country, including O'Hare and Midway in Chicago.

More than 280 flights were canceled at O'Hare while 55 were canceled at Midway. Those flights were headed to LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy, Newark, Philadelphia and Boston.

Tuesday evening, United Airlines said it plans to return to limited service to Newark from O'Hare, while American will begin limited flights to Philadelphia.

Both airlines hope to return- with limited service- to all affected East Coast airports by Wednesday morning and be back up to regular schedule by the evening.

"I'm stuck. I'm stranded. Nowhere to go. Our flight supposedly leaves Wednesday. I've been looking for a hotel, but can't find anything. Everything is like $1,000 and I can't do it," said Tanisha Sweet, who is from New York. She had a connecting flight on home, but spent the night at O'Hare.

Randy Rench was in Puerto Rico for business, but going home he's had a tour of airport detours.

"It's been a long day going from San Juan to Philadelphia. Flight from Philadelphia got canceled and the travel agency I work with hooked me up with another flight from Philadelphia here. And from here to Dayton. And the Dayton flight got canceled," Rench said.

The winter storm interrupted more than 7,700 flights nationwide.

Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status before leaving for the airport. If a flight is cancelled, try to reschedule online. Doing so will save passengers the time and hassle of trying to get a customer service representative on the phone.
