CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago area experienced a sudden drop in temperature after days of what felt like nice fall weather for late December.

Shoppers making holiday exchanges bundled up as the wind was certainly an issue on a cloudy Saturday between Christmas and the New Year.

Earlier in the day, temperatures hovered around 50, but by late afternoon and into the evening the mercury plunged into the mid-30s and dipped below freezing Saturday night for the first time since Monday.

Some lake snow is in the forecast for Monday.

"We're not talking about a lot of snow, but it's going to finally start to look and feel much more like winter around here," ABC7 Meteorologist Phil Schwarz said.

Roads could become slick Monday night and into Tuesday.
