CHICAGO (WLS) -- If you think it's cold around here now, it's about to get even colder. Arctic air is pushing into the Chicago area as a cold front arrives just in time for Valentine's Day weekend.

WATCH: ABC7 First Alert Weather Forecast

Temperatures are expected to drop from the low 30s on Wednesday afternoon to the single digits overnight into Thursday, ABC7 Chief Meteorologist Jerry Taft said.

Temperatures will struggle to reach the teens on Thursday, and winds gusting up to 35 mph will make it feel even more frigid. Lake effect snow should miss the Chicago area, but is possible in northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan on Thursday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect late Wednesday night through Thursday for Porter County and other counties north and west from late Wednesday night through Thursday, with the potential for several inches of accumulation.

"You can see this lake effect snow starting to move south into Berrien County, and it will move into Porter County later tonight," Taft said.

Friday will warm slightly, but another cold air mass will keep highs well below freezing all weekend, Taft said.
