Why does hail fall during the summer?
Here's why hail still manages to show up, even in hot weather.

Have you ever wondered why hail storms still manage to form during summer months? It has to do with the type of clouds and the atmosphere where hail forms.

"Hail storms form in cumulonimbus clouds, giant clouds that often cause storms," according to AccuWeather. "Cumulonimbus clouds are often present in summer storms. As these clouds rise high into the colder parts of the atmosphere, the water vapor inside them turns to ice crystals."

As more droplets continue to freeze, these hailstones grow bigger and bigger until their weight causes them to fall to Earth, creating hail.
