9 killed in Chicago weekend violence
Nine people were killed in shootings over the weekend in Chicago.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Ten people have been killed in a total of 31 shootings this weekend, Chicago police said.

The most recent shooting occurred at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of South Richmond Street in Chicago Lawn. A 42-year-old woman was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, while a 37-year-old man was shot in the chest and transported to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

Sunday morning,a 41-year-old man was shot near Rainbow Beach on the South Side. Police combed for evidence after the man was killed in the 2700-block of East 75th Street. Police said he was shot in the face after getting into a fight with another man.

In another shooting Sunday morning, a 24-year-old pregnant woman is recovering after she was shot in the hip. The shooting occurred in the 7100-block of South St. Lawrence Avenue at about 1:36 a.m. She was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

No one is in custody in connection with either shooting.

Friday night, four people were killed, including a pregnant woman, in a shooting in the Brighton Park neighborhood. Police found 28-year-old Ida Arvizu inside a sedan in the 4700-block of South Fairfield Avenue. Three others were also found shot to death inside the car, including Arvisu's ex-boyfriend Joel Sandoval and two acquaintances, Michelle Cano and Miguel Sandoval. Investigators said the attack could be gang-related.
