The FBI is warning Wisconsin college students about a phone scammers posing as federal officials and threatening them if they don't pay their student loans, delinquent taxes or overdue parking tickets.

The campus students are getting calls from people claiming to be from the local FBI office and claiming to be from the U.S. government.

About 15 students have received the call, but none of the students turned over any money, officials said.

"The FBI nor any other federal law enforcement agency is going to call somebody up and demand payment over the telephone. Quite frankly it's not going to happen," said Special Agent Robert Botsch, of the FBI Milwaukee Office.

So far, the calls have all been to students in Madison and Green Bay. Officials said students who get the call, should hang up and call authorities.
