NEW YORK (WLS) -- There's a new warning for women who take calcium supplements: there's new evidence that they may do more harm than good.

A new medical review finds that taking daily calcium supplements does little to strengthen bones in women under 80.

However, experts say the supplements do increase the risk of heart attacks, kidney stones and abdominal pain.

Only women over 80 and in nursing homes saw hip fractures drop by 23-percent.
