GLEN ELLYN, Ill. (WLS) -- The campus massacre in Oregon this week was on the minds of many during some emergency training Saturday.

Teams from across the region competed in the Prairie State Community Emergency Response Team Challenge. Some of the teams would respond if a mass shooting happened in the Chicago area.

"We're now still realizing some of the lessons learned from the college shooting that took place in Oregon," said James Joseph, Illinois Emergency Management Agency. "Those are prime events that after a dangerous situation has been neutralized, teams can come in to support police and fire in an event of any magnitude."

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency organized the event at the College of DuPage in west suburban Glen Ellyn.
