Naperville police investigating phone scam

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WLS) -- Naperville police are investigating a growing number of complaints from victims of a phone scam.

Police say someone claiming to be a city employee tries to collect what's described as an outstanding electric utility bill.

Victims are told they need to make an immediate payment or face losing service.

The city of Naperville does not solicit payments over the phone.
