The Los Angeles County coroner arrives at the scene in 600 block of W. 57th Street after a body was found inside a refrigerator on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015.

LOS ANGELES -- A man's body was found inside a refrigerator in a South Los Angeles apartment Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Authorities said a maintenance crew discovered the body while cleaning out what they thought was an empty apartment in the 600 block of W. 57th Street around 10 a.m.

Investigators said there was an eviction notice on the door of the second floor unit of the fourplex building.

Police said the man appears to be in his 40s and they believe he lived in the apartment.

Detectives said the man was not shot or stabbed, but did have other injuries they're investigating.

Officials are trying to determine how the man died and how long his body was in the refrigerator.

Police have confirmed they're treating the case as a homicide.
