Hunger Resource Network hosts community outreach day
The Hunger Resource Network is making sure no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving season.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (WLS) -- The Hunger Resource Network is making sure no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving season. On Nov. 14 the organization is donating 125,000 pounds of chicken and other food to 100 Chicago-area food pantries, homeless shelters, and soup kitchens. With this distribution, Hunger Resource Network will have provided over 500,000 pounds of chicken to recipient agencies since 2011. HRN started in April 2009 to help meet the food needs in the community.

The community outreach day is made possible in part by the hospitality of Sunset Foods, in allowing HRN to use the store parking lot as the distribution point and by their ongoing contributions and support of HRN's mission. President of Hunger Resource Network, Dan Jariabka, and Ron Bernadi from Sunset Foods, joined ABC 7 live from the community outreach day to talk about their work.
