CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are searching for a couple wanted for stealing jackets from high-end stores in Chicago, including an alligator jacket worth $95,000.

Police believe surveillance video captured the two thieves mixed among the crowd of Mag Mile shoppers last Monday afternoon. Together they walked through the front door, and somehow got the jacket from the second floor and out the door without being caught. Chicago police said it was their second heist of the day.

Police believe surveillance video captured the two thieves mixed among the crowd of Mag Mile shoppers last Monday afternoon.

Earlier, investigators said they hit a store on Oak Street where they stole a women's winter coat and a men's sport coat. In total, police say all the jackets are worth more than $100,000.

The most expensive, by far, is the alligator jacket. It's part of Ralph Lauren's extravagant Purple Label collection, which one fashion magazine called "poverty inducing".

Shoppers were amazed the couple could get away with something so valuable.

"Honestly there's so many people, you can't change how one person thinks because there are thieves, there are criminals," said Jermaine Edwards.

"That is bold. What do I think about it? I think it was ridiculous the coat was $95,000," said Karen Trout.

"Holiday season is all about giving back and supporting others, supporting the local economy. It's sad that people have to steal," said Taylor Dugas.

Anyone who recognizes the two suspects in the surveillance photo is urged to contact Chicago police.
