OAK PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- The Oak Park police are investigating a sexual assault of an 18-year-old girl at Oak Park and River Forest High School.
A 16-year-old boy is accused in the assault. No charges have been filed. Both are students at the school.
In a statement posted on the school district's website, school officials said the incident "occurred in the building during nighttime hours."
According to the statement: "The district took immediate measures specific to this incident. In addition, we have taken steps to see how we might enhance the security measures in place to ensure the safety of students."
The school is also reviewing the degree of access that is allowed on campus after hours and installing additional security cameras.
"It's scary because I happen to be in building a lot during extra hours," said student Anika Waco. "It makes me feel a lot less safe."
Parents learned of the investigation from an email from the school on Monday.
"It's pretty appalling (that) kids my age - juniors, seniors - would do stuff like this," said student Paul Kovatchis.
The alleged sexual assault is the latest incident at the suburban high school. A few weeks ago, English teacher Jeremy Lind was criminally charged for several different sexual encounters with a student.
"It's a really bad year," said student Roman Ebert.
