HARVEY, Ill. (WLS) -- Two major topics are expected to be discussed at Monday night's city council meeting in south suburban Harvey.

First, the mayor wants a $15 million tax levy to keep dozens of police officers and firefighters on the job. Some city council members are calling for a financial oversight committee to make sure that money is used properly.

Another possible topic is the Cook County Sheriff's call for the justice department to investigate the Harvey Police Department. An investigation seven years ago found problems with excessive force and the handling of sexual assault cases.

The police chief says changes have been made and welcomes any investigation.
