COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, Ill. (WLS) -- A 20-year-old man died three days after he was rescued from his burning garage in south suburban Country Club Hills.

Fire crews responded to a home in the 18600-block of Baker Avenue round 9 p.m. on Jan. 5 and found heavy flames and smoke billowing from the garage. They requested more help and summoned arson investigators to the scene.

Firefighters forced their way into the garage through a side door to reach Mark Calcaterra, who was rushed to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office said Calcaterra was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:06 p.m. on Jan. 8. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

No one else was hurt. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
