CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago's Polish community was able to watch the opening of a new museum in their homeland.

The ceremony was streamed live, and Governor Bruce Rauner's office organized a viewing at the Thompson Center.

The museum is dedicated to telling the stories of those who helped saved Jews in German-occupied Poland during World War II. It's located in Markowa, Podkarpackie.

The museum is named after a family who was killed for violating laws making it illegal to help Jews.
