Kayaker rescued after boat capsizes on Lake Michigan in Wilmette

WILMETTE, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was pulled from Lake Michigan at Gilson Park Beach in north suburban Wilmette.

The Wilmette Fire Department said preliminary reports indicated a man in his 40s was kayaking when his boat capsized Tuesday afternoon.

Rescue crews said he was conscious and talking when they reached him. Officials did not say how long he had been in the water.

The man was taken to Evanston Hospital. No information on his condition was immediately available.
