St. Adalbert's Church to close in Pilsen

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A beloved Pilsen church that's over 100 years old will have to be closed for good.

St. Adalbert's cannot afford the millions of dollars needed for crumbling repairs. The parish had been waiting on a $3 million donation to save the church, but it was much less than expected.

A spokesperson for the archdiocese says the money is not enough to sustain the church with its dwindling attendance.

If the church property is sold, proceeds will go toward St. Adalbert's debt.
